God’s Design for Sexuality - Week 05

One question that has arisen in recent years is whether some sins, at least, are a biological phenomenon. Are we simply “born that way?” Some point to scientific evidence that suggests that brain biology explains various sexual behaviors. Others suggest that the primary cause of at least some sexual struggles is early psychological influences in one’s environment. It is true that both biology and environment influence behavior, but the Bible presents another factor namely, our sin nature. Therefore, the Bible teaches that sexual sin, of whatever sort, is the result of a corrupt heart working in combination with evil influences. The root cause is the sinfulness of humanity, but psychology and environment also play a role.
