No Disciple Left Behind, Part 3

Jan 11, 2026    Ken Brown

What if the most important work we could ever do isn't building our retirement portfolio or perfecting our golf swing, but investing in something eternal? This message challenges us to examine where we're placing our life's energy by contrasting the passion people have for coffee brands and football teams with the eternal mission of the church. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 3:10-17, we're confronted with a sobering reality: God views His church as sacred—a temple where His Spirit dwells—and He will hold each of us accountable for how we've contributed to building it up. The passage reveals that we're not spectators in God's work but active builders, each using materials that will either endure like gold and silver or burn away like wood and straw. What makes this particularly compelling is the reminder that we'll all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, not to determine our salvation, but to evaluate the quality and impact of our service. This isn't about clergy versus laity; every believer has been equipped with gifts meant to edify others and advance the gospel. The question becomes deeply personal: Are we collecting shells on the beach of life, or are we pouring ourselves into the mission that will echo into eternity? This call to align our priorities with God's purposes invites us to see church not as something we attend on Sundays, but as the defining mission of our entire lives.
